Das Leporello:
Worttrennung: Le|po|rel|lo Eigentlich geht es um ein sogenanntes Faltbuch.
Das Faltbuch wiederum gibt schon seit dem Mittelalter und es war damals so etwas wie ein Taschenbuch.

Der original Kodex ist ein Faltbuch mit 112 Seiten Amatl-Papier*, das - warum auch immer - mit einer feinen Schicht aus Stuck überzogen wurde. Die Seitenhöhe beträgt 22,6 Zentimeter und die Gesamtlänge 6,82 Meter.
*Huun- und Amatl-Papier sind traditionelle Papiere Mittelamerikas deren Rohstoff aus der Rinde des Amatl-Baums (Ficus insipida) - eine Art Feigenbaum gewonnen wird.

The folding book, on the other hand, has been around since the Middle Ages and was something like a paperback back then.

The original codex is a folding book with 112 pages of Amatl paper*, which - for whatever reason - was covered with a fine layer of stucco. The page height is 22.6 centimetres and the total length is 6.82 metres.
*Huun and Amatl paper are traditional papers of Central America. Their raw material is extracted from the bark of the Amatl tree (Ficus insipida) - a kind of fig tree.

Don Giovannis einziger Lebenszweck ist die Verführung von Frauen. Nachdem er Donna Anna entehrt hat und ihren Vater, im Duell ermordet, trifft er auf Donna Elvira, eine frühere Eroberung. Sie stellt ihn zur Rede und überschüttet ihn mit Vorwürfen, er aber schleicht sich fort und überlässt Leporello der Situation. auf die Anschuldigungen antwortet der Diener mit einem fünfminütigen Rezitativ indem er die lange Liste der Eroberungen seines Herrn vorließt.
Mozarts Oper Don Giovanni:
Leporello heißt der Diener und demnach auch Affairenbuchhalter des Frauenhelden Don Giovanni. Er führt die Liste der Amouren und Eroberungen des Dons wohl mit stellvertretendem Stolz!
Leporello berichtet davon recht ausführlich in der so genannten "Registerarie" , die immerhin mehr als fünf Minuten dauert. Entsprechend der Aufführungstradition entfaltet er dabei effektvoll diese Liste auf der Bühne.
wie lange dieses Faltbuch ist - Im Libretto findet sich dazu keine Angabe, außer dass die „Catalogo“ genannte Liste als „non picciolo libro“, also als ein nicht gerade kleines Buch, bezeichnet wird und es wird erwähnt, dass jede Dame eine Seite erhält.
Der stolze oder besser gesagt angeberische Katalog führt Buch über folgende Eroberungen:
640 in Italien;
1003 in Spanien;
231 in Deutschland;
100 in Frankreich;
91 in der Türkei.
Zusammen also 2065 Ladies die Don Giovanni verführt haben will...
Das stelle man sich jetzt als Faltbuch oder Flyer vor, in der jede Dame Ihre eigen Seite erhält!
Es wird wohl etwas unpraktisch. Auf der Bühne aber sicher sehr effektvoll, leider gibt es keine Aufzeichnungen, die dieses Spektakel auf der Bühne in Form eines Faltbuches in voller Länge zeigt.
Und die Geschichte geht nicht gut aus, wie wir wissen!

Don Giovanni's only purpose in life is the seduction of women. After disgracing Donna Anna and murdering her father in a duel, he meets Donna Elvira, an earlier conquest. She confronts him and throws accusations at him, but he sneaks away and leaves Leporello to the situation. The servant answers the accusations with a five-minute recitative, leaving the long list of his master's conquests in front of him.
Mozart's opera Don Giovanni:
Leporello is the name of the servant and therefore also the "affair accountant" of the womanizer Don Giovanni. He probably leads the list of the Don's amours and conquests with representative pride!
Leporello reports on this in great detail in the so-called "register aria", which takes more than five minutes. In accordance with the performance tradition, he unfolds this list effectively on stage.
How long this folding book is - There is no information about this in the libretto, except that the list called "Catalogo" is described as "non picciolo libro", i.e. a not exactly small book, and it is mentioned that each lady receives one page.
The proud or rather boastful catalogue keeps a record of the following conquests:

91 in Turkey.

Imagine this now as a booklet or flyer in which each lady gets her own page!
It will probably be a bit impractical. On stage but certainly very effective, unfortunately there are no records that show this spectacle on stage in the form of a flyer in full length.
And the story does not end well, as we know!
